The year was 1998, the fourth year after South Africa's liberation into a new era and the people were filled with hope for a better future. It was a time of unity as the nation embraced our new democracy.

It was the same year the Zhong family had to bury their two-year-old son after the family was brutally attacked and their toddler killed by cold-blooded robbers.

犹记1998年，正是南非解放进入新时代的第四年。南非人民心中充满希望，憧憬着更加美好的未来。这本应是一个生机勃勃的时代，一个拥抱重生喜悦的时代。

而就在同一年，华人仲氏一家遭遇残忍袭击。他们正在蹒跚学步的儿子，被冷血的抢匪无情枪杀了。伤心欲绝的仲氏夫妇埋葬了他们两岁的儿子。

The Zhong family did not pack up and leave South Africa thereafter. Instead, the husband and wife wiped away their tears and continued with life. South Africa was their home and destination. They made significant contributions to society in honour of their beloved son. Many fellow South Africans benefited from their humanitarian activities and contributions.

仲氏夫妇并没有收拾行李离开南非。他们认定南非是他们生命中的第二故乡。一旦爱上这个国家，要离开又谈何容易。夫妻二人擦干眼泪继续生活。他们融入当地社区，以贡献社会的方式来纪念他们心爱的儿子。很多南非人受益于他们的善举和贡献。

Twenty-two years have since passed, although the tears are dry but the pain of losing their son would not be forgotten.

22年过去了，眼泪虽然已干，但是仲家的丧子之痛永远不能忘记。

On 13 August 2020, Mr Zhiwei Tom Zhong and his wife Mrs Xuejie Linda Hua were brutally shot and killed like animals on Village Road, Johannesburg. The gunmen had robbed the couple of their belongings and decided that Tom and Linda’s lives were not worth sparing. We may never know the torment Tom and Linda had to endure staring down the barrels of the thugs’ guns.

2020年8月13日，仲志维先生 (Tom) 和他的太太花学杰（Linda）女士再次遭遇不幸。他们在约翰内斯堡的Village Road遭遇抢劫。歹徒像射杀动物一样屠杀了他们。 抢匪抢劫了这对夫妇的财产，并认为Tom和Linda的生命不值得他们怜惜。 我们永远无法体会，仲氏夫妇在暴徒枪口下遭受了何等的痛苦！

The tragedy has shocked  and angered the Chinese community, locally and internationally. We are still in disbelief and angered that such a kind and gentle couple can suffer this brutality.

仲氏家庭惨剧在华人圈引发强震，激起南非本地及国际华人的愤怒。我们至今依然不敢相信这对善良温柔的夫妇会遭遇如此残忍暴行。

You see, Mr President, while the world cries Black Lives Matter and equality of life, at least 50 of our own people, regardless of colour or ethnicity are killed in South Africa every day. We sincerely urge you and your government to show more determination and courage to end this terrible scourge.

总统先生，如您所知，当全世界都在呼吁“黑人的命也是命”时，当全世界为生命公平而呐喊时, 我们这些南非的百姓，不管他们属于哪个肤色种族，每天有至少50人被杀。我们诚挚地呼吁您和您的政府能够拿出更多的决心和勇气来结束这一可怕的人祸。

This is not fate, this is a man-made hell. Our citizens live in fear behind burglar bars. Our women and children are victims of abuse. Businesses have to survive robberies and economic recessions. We hear voices of tremble and of fear, our homes are no longer havens for the family. Amongst all this, crime thrives like a tumour eroding away the life of this rainbow nation.

这绝不是命运，这是人为的炼狱——您的公民恐惧地生活在防盗栏后，妇女和儿童成为罪犯的袭击目标，商家在抢劫和经济衰退的双重蹂躏下喘息。我们听见的声音，是战栗恐惧的声音，不是平安的声音。日惊夜忧，我们的住所不再是家人的避风港。犯罪犹如一颗侵蚀这个彩虹国度的毒瘤！

President Ramaphosa, we urge you to remember these names and read them out aloud the next time you give a public remembrance. These are Chinese South Africans who were killed in heinous crimes in the recent years.

拉马福萨总统，我们强烈要求您记住这些近年来在令人发指罪行中丧生的南非华人姓名，并在将来举办公共纪念活动时大声朗读出他们的名字。

We ask for no more than for this country and all those live in it to be safe and secure. We believe in that you, Mr President will take charge in apprehending those killers and thugs dominating our beautiful land and no mercy spared on punishing them.

我们要求的仅仅是：保障我们热爱的国家和全体人民的安全。 我们相信您，总统先生将重视自己的责任，逮捕並嚴懲那些横行在我们美丽土地上的杀手和暴徒。
