Why this petition matters

Started by Caspar Daniels

I am a Year 6 pupil who recently presented a PowerPoint explaining factory farming. Following this, I began raising money for a charity with similar views on animal rights and how we should raise them. After two weeks of collecting within my school, the donations totalled to £145. I then furthered my campaign and wrote to the people sourcing my school meals, Waltham Forest Catering. Also, I wrote to Red Tractor - one of the leading food standards in the UK - and George Eustice - the minister of Environment, Food and Rural affairs - urging them to raise their standards. And now I am running a nationwide petition in hopes for 100000 signatures to only allow high welfare animal food in UK schools.

Factory Farming is unfortunately the main method of raising animals for the plate today but I am on a mission to stop this. Pigs are confined to horrid cages with no cleanliness or respect for the animal. No straw or bedding to comfort the pig is to be seen in an intensive farm. Unfortunately, this is still legal in the UK.

My mini team and I of determined activists are calling for only high welfare animal products to be sourced in UK schools since the current standards do not consider the animals welfare at all.

We believe that if we educate the youth about animal cruelty within farming, we can really insight change and change the face of British farming today.

Sign the petition if you believe that animals should have the right to root around in the mud and be free of the cage age. Animals have beating hearts and emotions so they should be treated with the upmost care.

It is clearly wrong and if you feel that every animal should be treated equally and farmed with respect, you must take action. Obviously, the best way to end this cruel practice is not to support these places. In order to purchase high welfare animal-based products, you must keep an eye out for many logos such as: RSPCA assured, Organic, Free Range, Outdoor Bred and Outdoor Reared. Also, you can promote my petition - which if fighting for the millions of suffering animals behind bars - by signing it and sharing it with friends and family.
