I wish to start a counter petition about the removal of the statue of Sir Robert Peel and the proposed renaming of Peel Park in Bradford where his statue stands.

I feel strongly that the statue should remain intact and that the park retains the name of Peel Park, which has been fondly enjoyed by generations of Bradfordians.

The statue is in honour of ex prime minister and the founder of the police force,  Sir Robert Peel, and should not be confused with his father of the same name, who had links to the slavery trade.
