To the Great Colonizer Overlord, Prime Minister Trudeau,

We are writing to congratulate you on your ability to lie, steal and oppress First Nations, all with a sweet boyish smile.  We hope this letter finds you in great health and fine spirits, as we all watched you hit the slopes in Whistler last week.   On that very same day your black-booted thugs (otherwise known as the RCMP) decided to violently assault a sovereign First Nation, haul Indigenous people off their lands at gunpoint, and incarcerate non-violent community members.  We are certain that the long line of your prime ministerial forebears starting with John A. Macdonald - genocidal colonizers all - would have been delighted, and would have also called your actions “lawful.”  And yet your efforts to de-legitimize the Supreme Court decision affirming Tsilhqot'in title over their own territory is so pathetic and transparent, we wonder how you can sleep at night, on your carat gold bedsheets?  Do you think that we are stupid?  We KNOW that Indigenous rights pose a threat to resource extraction, and that containing those rights has become a major imperative for the Canadian nation-state.   And wait-what?  Your action is also in violation of Canada and British Columbia’s stated commitments to reconciliation, and in breach of UNDRIPS (United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples), which states that “Indigenous peoples shall not be forcibly removed from their lands or territories.”

Your corruption of power is clearly a beacon of deadly oppression to us all, as witnessed by your delusional statement only two days later at a Q&A "to walk next to Indigenous people.”  Your talent for obfuscation and hypocrisy surpasses any discourse seen in Canada to date, and every single “woke” Canadian is well aware of your outright lies. Where is the personal accountability?  There are greater powers on this land, Justin Trudeau, than you and your government, or your “prosperity for the middle-class.”  It’s extremely hard for oligarchs such as yourself to acknowledge, but colonial interlopers DO NOT have ultimate authority over the land, or the original First Peoples.  Be advised that this petition will be signed internationally in response to your actions, so you can fully contemplate your image around the world.  It will be signed by Canadians, and your relationship with them SHOULD matter!

This petition is written, not to ask you, but to DEMAND in the name of human decency:

(1) That you leave all Indigenous lands alone unless you have full, free, prior and informed consent, and cancel the invasion of the Wet'suwet'en once and for all. They have made it abundantly clear that a pipeline will NEVER cross their lands.  

(2) That you leave the Unis'to'ten camp alone. Get industry out!

(3) That you STOP the pipeline madness. These arrests were made to support a business that seeks to expand fossil fuel infrastructure at a time when experts - including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change - are asking countries to drastically reduce carbon emissions in order to prevent environmental catastrophe.   Allowing TC Energy to expand and frack is not only a violation of Indigenous rights - it is dangerous and shortsighted environmental policy, which puts Canada’s lands, waters, animals, and peoples at risk.

Dear Justin ~ we once thought you legitimately wanted reconciliation with Indigenous people but we now know that's a lie.  But there is still time to choose respectful Nation-to-Nation relationships and pursue courageous environmental policies.  We urge you to halt RCMP violence, respect Wet’suwet’en jurisdiction, and end ALL pipeline expansion.
