For far too many years, Donkeys have been used as a form of amusement in summer months on Coney Beach. Whilst you may think it would be a fun activity for your child to partake in, it’s also compromising the animals health.

The donkeys, ponies and often horses are left all day with minimal shelter and water on the hot sand, temperatures reached 30° plus this past week which is too hot for animals with suitable shelter and copious amounts of water, let alone an animal left ALL day with lack of these necessities. It’s deeply saddening, if you aren’t going to look after your animals correctly then don’t have any at all. Many argue that these animals are used to the heat as they are robust and used as transport in very hot countries, this may be the case however the donkeys on Coney beach are not acclimatised to this sort of heat as they do not live in said countries - we have very very hot weather for a matter of weeks in the UK and therefore they would not be used to it. Please, if you care for these poor animals sign this petition to hopefully stop this animal cruelty, now and for the future.

On 18th July 2021, I saw a picture get posted on social media of these poor babies in 30° heat with a tiny bucket of water and hardly no hay left to eat. May I add, I’ve had people who work for these people, tell me that when their hay bale is empty it stays empty for the rest of the day. One tiny bucket between 6/7 donkeys and 2/3 horses for 6/7 hours every single day, this needs to stop! They're clearly not looked after and are neglected. All that’s happened in the past is they have been suspected, I’ve made this petition so they get completely shut down!

Help these poor animals have a better life, not just used as money making machines!
