Friends, there was some surprising news buried in last week’s Federal Court judgement confirming that QLD-born Tharnicaa was denied “procedural fairness”:
Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott was one of eighteen MPs and Senators who wrote to the Immigration Minister about our Biloela family before the last election.
Over the last three years, I’ve been amazed by the way this little family has brought people of different beliefs and backgrounds together.
From conservative broadcaster Alan Jones to former Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce, the actions you have taken for our Biloela family have inspired support from unexpected allies.
But I was shocked to see Mr Abbott in a list of prominent government MPs and Senators who wrote to the Minister about our family, along with:
Please, will you write your own e-mail to your government MP or Senator for our family today?
If you are one of the thousands of people who have written to Minister Hawke in the last week - thank you.
There have been many times in the last three years when it has been hard to hang on to hope.
But water drops can wear away the hardest stone. And I truly believe every e-mail, every letter and every respectful phone call is slowly but surely making a difference for Priya, Nades and the girls.
As always, for everything you are doing for Priya, Nades, Kopika and Tharnicaa - thank you
In hope,
Angela
PS On Friday 5th March, it will be three years since officials snatched our family from their Biloela home. We’ll be announcing details of a national “dawn to dusk” vigil kicking off in Biloela on 5th March soon - please follow Home to Bilo on Twitter and Facebook for updates.
