Dear Sir,

Introduction:

Shree Nasik Panchavati Panrjapole (SNPP), is 143 years old Registered Public Charitable Trust-Gaushala/ NGO. Website: www.snpp.in currently taking care of approx. 1300 cows-Gaumatas.

Concern:

It has come to our notice that, Certain authorities are considering acquiring SNPP’s 540 hectares of  land full of biodiversity including lakhs of trees and water bodies for  CIDCO housing project.

We raise the following issues with the project, to be considered by you before granting any further approvals:

1. They have ignored the valuable ecological setup on the said land, which consists of the following:

*Big Gaushala *Certified Organic Fodder for 1300 Cows *Lakhs of Trees with Rich Biodiversity *Big Rainwater Harvesting ponds with aquatic lives and water conservation project *Home to several birds and animals which by itself is a self-sustainable ecosystem *Honey bee keeping project for pollination *Solar power generation project of 450 kw etc…

2. Any acquisition of the said land and its subsequent use in redevelopment projects, will not only  hamper the environmental benefits being derived from the land, but will also threaten the sanctity of the “Lungs of Nashik city”.

3. Great loss to Ecology: In the event of acquisition of this land for CIDCO housing development or any other project could affect adversely the natural resources, ecology and cows at SNPP.

 4. There are 2.10 lakhs (Approx.) trees of various species like,  Amla, Babool, Bahawa, Bor, Bitti, Bhokar, Chikoos, Coconut, Custard Apple,   Giripushp, Guava, Hivar, Jamun, Kadamb, Kanchan, Kashid, Khair, Mangoes, Neem,Pimpal,Ritha,Shirish,Silver Oak, Tamarind etc.

Survival of the Gaushala and 1300 Cows therein will be threatened & vulnerable if the land of the trust will be acquired.

Request:

We strongly object the aforesaid proposal and kindly request Govt. of Maharashtra not to move ahead in this matter.

Thank you

Uday S Joshi
