Why this petition matters

Started by Eleanor Haffegee

It is vital that year 11 and year 13 students remain at school until the end of the year when the summer holidays starts. Despite not doing our gcse/a level exams we must still stay at school, we missed so much of our previous year at school and this extra few months should hopefully make up for some of it.

If we do leave school in around May when study leave would usually start, we will have nothing to do, no purpose until school starts again in September. This  will deeply affect students mental health, feeling as though there is no meaning to life. Letting us just leave school with nothing to do for a few months will do nothing but encourage and promote juvenile delinquency and cause a decline in students mental health.

Being at school allows us to not only make up for the time we lost both this academic year and the previous but we can also socialise, be with our friends and make memories from our last few months at school which will treasure forever.

I understand that the school environment is not for everyone, but there is some aspect of it that everyone can enjoy. Whether that’s your favourite lesson, an after school activity or even just seeing your friends at lunch, every pupil finishing the school year is essential.

Thankyou.
