More NHS funding into baby loss research.
More NHS funding into baby loss research.
Why this petition matters
Myself and my partner Amanda lost our twins at 6 weeks last week. Amanda had a bilateral ectopic twin pregnancy which means both babies were stuck in her fallopian tubes. This was our 12th loss in three years.
In this time, we, along with many others, have had no help from the NHS to investigate why this keeps happening or how to deal with it afterwards. We found out that this is because the NHS receive no funding at all to help find out what causes all types of baby loss. The only option is to go to a private clinic which can be expensive and not affordable to everyone.
That's simply not enough and we want to change that.
One in four pregnancies end in baby loss. How many innocent wee babies haven't got the chance to be born? Could this be prevented? Could funded research help find some answers to end the heartache felt by each of us every time we're told the sad news?
The NHS staff who we have met have been amazing. This is not their fault. But after each miscarriage we’ve not had any offer to find out further why we have lost so many babies. We’ve only been offered a blood test - and this isn’t enough.
Further research can be done to save lives! We think the NHS should be given more funding to help people who experience recurrent miscarriage. If the money was there, we would have been given more opportunities to find out why this has happened to us, and people like us wouldn't have to turn to expensive, private alternatives..
The only way we can do that is to stand-up and be heard, and to do this we need your help.
We're asking if you can please sign and share this petition to help us to achieve our goal.
Thank you
Amanda and Robert
