Boris don't take £20 a week from the poor.
Why this petition matters
In September, the government have threatened to withdraw the extra £20 per week that they gave the people/families on universal credit. This was given to help get them through the consequences of the pandemic. This £20, apart from no longer having it's initial value because of inflation, has now embedded itself in the finances of some of our poorest people/families in this country. If you take it back, kids will go hungry. Families will suffer. Winter will be a long, hard, brutal time for these people/families. You can't give them this money and then take it away. Let those who can carry this burden in their taxes do so. Please, please sign this petition even if it costs you a few pound in taxes. Don't let our poor pay for the cost of Covid.
I for one will not forgive the government if they do this. I don't care how much they say they have helped them in other ways, taking that £20 back after a year or more of being used to receiving it, is going to cause a lot of damage.
I am asking you from the bottom of my heart - let's do something together for the poor of our country. Please, please join me in signing this petition.
