Why this petition matters

Started by Alexandria Ayala

I am not affiliated with the Degree family and would be more than happy to turn this page over to them if they so wished. I merely want to garner more attention to Asha's case after 20 years of no answers.

Asha Degree was 9 years old when she went missing in Shelby, NC on February 14, 2000. She packed her backpack and left in the middle of the night during treacherous weather. Nobody knows her intentions in leaving that night, though speculations fly. One thing is for certain, she was a "very, very shy" girl who was afraid of the dark and thunderstorms. It is highly unlikely she left for fun or adventure.

We have eye-witness accounts of a fairly unique vehicle that the FBI wants to locate, a green classic car with rust stains. Officials have confirmed that her backpack was located (bagged in plastic and covered in foliage) with items they are asking for public help in identifying. We have a photograph of a girl that Asha carried around with her and we need help identifying that girl as well. These clues lead nowhere without public help.

All this being said, I think Asha and her family would greatly benefit from the national spotlight of Unsolved Mysteries. People talk about her case online daily, but we need viewers on Netflix, the average person outside of the crime buffs, with fresh eyes on this case.

To the producers (John and Terry): Please do some research as I have only scratched the surface with this post, and please contact her family to see if they would be interested in participating in an episode. They do an annual walk to raise awareness, all these years later. I'm hoping and assuming they would 100% be on board.

To the public: Please sign this to show the producers and more importantly Asha's family that there is still an overwhelming amount of people invested in bringing Asha home.
