Why this petition matters

Started by The Children's Campaign

Florida is receiving $10 billion in COVID Relief. Urge our state to fund services to traumatized victims of child sex trafficking and to meet COVID emergency needs for children’s health care, quality child care, hunger, eviction prevention and more.  All of these unmet needs put children more at risk.

Voices for Florida's Open Doors Outreach Network is a promising practice solution for helping sex trafficked children.   Nearly 1,100 victims have been served since 2017. Sadly, the average age that exploitation begins is just 12-14. Both boys and girls are victimized. All children are vulnerable, but foster children, runaways and homeless kids are especially at risk.

Through Open Doors, help is available 24/7/365 through a multidisciplinary team consisting of survivor-mentors, clinicians and regional advocates.

Act today to encourage leaders in Tallahassee to target the general revenue support needed to truly support Florida's most vulnerable children.  Without it, services will be cut.

In spite of its good and tough laws, Florida remains a national hub for trafficking, ranking third in the nation. COVID-19 made trafficking more prevalent - reports are up 40%.

Florida can't be tough on sex trafficking crime if it's weak on services for victims.
