Ludwig's Super Sensitive snare strainer mechanism was discontinued about five years ago. I don't think they'll bring it back unless they feel that they can sell a bunch of them. Apparently, a supplier that they used for some of the parts is no longer in business, so retooling would require some added expense.

I had one of these snare drums way back in the 70s, and it was fantastic. I only sold it because replacing the snare wires was too expensive for me at the time. Since then, other companies, like Puresound, have offered replacement wires and that has lowered their cost considerably. Regardless, there are no other currently available snare strainer systems that compare.

Rogers recently reintroduced the Dyna-Sonic and that has been a great success. Hopefully we can convince Ludwig to follow suit, and bring back the best snare strainer system every conceived. Perhaps they can even improve upon it!
