The Lord of the Rings and all of Tolkien’s other works such as The Hobbit and The Silmarillion have always been centred around companionship and courage defeating all evil, even when this outcome seems hopeless. Tolkien’s goal was to give us readers an escape, and the adaptation most widely loved The Lord of the Rings Trilogy represented this wholeheartedly, and the magical escape the world of Middle Earth allows us to travel too. In order to keep the respectable and timeless legendary tales just so, we fans kindly ask that Amazon keeps true to Tolkien’s vision, and understand that sexual content was never needed in Tolkien’s tales to convey how deeply characters cared for each other and the intimacy between them; take Aragorn and Arwen for example, Faramir and Eówyn, and not to forget Beren and Lúthien. We fans believe that it is important to maintain the same feelings of awe, excitement and sheer raw emotion that came with each battle and each interaction between those that walked among Middle Earth through the Ages. We believe that to add sexual content would be leaning towards a more Game of Thrones-esque series rather than one that is true to Middle Earth and what all of its peoples were about. We hope that our feelings towards this matter are considered, as for many of us, adding sexual content into the new series would be poor taste, as there is already so much beautiful content that could be covered that is pure and true to Tolkien’s tales and we wish to have his memory honoured by keeping these stories, that become adaptions respectable and centred around the coming together of all life, regardless of differences and how good can prevail when comrades come together. Tolkien himself once said, “Fantasy is escapist, and that is it’s glory. If a soldier  is imprisoned by the enemy, don’t we consider it his duty to escape? ...If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we’re partisans of liberty, then it’s our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can!” This for me sums up exactly why we must keep Tolkien’s work classy and family friendly, because as Tolkien said, we must be able to share these beautiful tales with as many people as we can, and to use sexual content will take away the heart and soul of Middle Earth and divert it away from what the tales are truly about.
