Why this petition matters

Started by In honor of George Floyd

All signatures on this petition would like to show solidarity and support for Minneapolis councilmembers Phillipe Cunningham, Steve Fletcher and Alondra Cano for their dedication in disbanding the Minneapolis police. We believe the disbanding of the Minneapolis PD will bring our country closer to racial equity and put an end to brutal police power and killings of black civilians, and we hope other states will take a note and disband their police forces as well.

From Councilmember Steve Fletcher on 6/2 (via Twitter): "Bob Kroll’s letter yesterday to the Minneapolis Police Federation membership showed us what rank-and-file officers voted for in their leadership, and it is yet another sign that the department is irredeemably beyond reform."

From Councilmember Alondra Cano on 6/3 (via Twitter): "The Mpls Police Department is not reformable. Change is coming"

We stand with you. Please continue your fight, with all of our support.
