Allow airline passengers one year from original travel date to rebook airline credit
Allow airline passengers one year from original travel date to rebook airline credit
Why this petition matters
Millions of travelers currently have flights scheduled with the major airlines that are either canceled or allowed to cancel with no airline fees due to Covid-19. Most U.S. Airlines are not providing refunds but travel credits that must either be used within one year of the date the ticket was purchased or by year end.
Thousands of us have lost our jobs, sources of income, are worrying about losing our small business or seeing our 401K dropping to the point that we cannot travel this year.
British Airways is allowing customers to use their credit up to a year from the original travel date. JetBlue is allowing travel up to one year from the date the travel credit is granted. Many of us would re-book our trips in 2021 if the U.S. airlines, including Delta, American Airlines and United, would implement this policy. As it stands now, I would lose my credit because I cannot travel this year.
We are asking if a bailout is offered to airlines, that you require the airlines to offer a credit good for one year from the travel date or the date they issue a credit. We understand that the airlines cannot afford refunds, but they can be fair with extending the credits for a year.
