Why this petition matters

Started by John Aird

On March 22nd, my brother David Aird age 59 travelled to work as normal, however David did not return home that day.

David suffered a massive heart attack and despite the efforts of his work colleagues and the attempts by paramedics on route to hospital, unfortunately their efforts were in vain. David did not survive.

It is common knowledge that a quick response gives heart attack victims a greater chance of survival and everyone should have the best opportunity of survival in this not so uncommon occurrence. Having a defibrillator at his workplace could have saved David's Life.

My aim in this petition is to have legislation to make it compulsory for all places of work with ten or more employees to have a defibrillator on the premises and to make it common knowledge to employees and the general public as to its location.

I would appreciate if the passing of my brother David - who had no history of heart disease and suffered a fatal cardiac arrest - is not in vain.

Can every person please take the time to sign this petition so others have the greatest chance of survival if suffering a cardiac arrest in the workplace.
