Why this petition matters

Started by Martyn Hood

Presently there is a petition organised by Conservative Councillors in Sutton Coldfield to remove the newly installed 'pop up cycling lane on Brassington Avenue. This counter petition is for Birmingham City Council to retain cycle lane and to show support for further improvements for cyclists.

Sutton Coldfield is well served for the motorist but access to the town centre and the peripheral areas for the cyclist remains poor, with the need to navigate the ring road intersecting car park ramps, traffic Islands, buses, parking bays, and road junctions.

There is an increasing modal shift in transport as Coronavirus has reduced car usage. Members of the public are being asked to get fit with GPs prescribing cycling to reduce obesity levels. The infrastructure to support increasing cycling use is needed.
