Why this petition matters

Started by LJ Robinson

Hi my name's LJ Robinson and I worked in the legal cannabis industry in the United States of America.

As you may or may not know, there are over 3 million registered medical marijuana patients in our country. That is not a small group of people by any means, and those are just the ones willing to take on the burden of registering. Legal Cannabis is sweeping the nation and advertising on Facebook / Instagram is proving to be a difficult point for most companies & personalities. Accounts can be deleted overnight without warning, never to be appealed or any answer given except for one, "TOS violation". That's a vague way to shut someone's whole digital life down.

I've read through the Community Standards on Facebook, the only way we can change the way we are treated is if we organize together and stand up as a majority, and not individually.

Their Community Standards specifically state "Our policies are based on feedback from our community and the advice of experts in fields such as technology, public safety and human rights. To ensure that everyone’s voice is valued, we take great care to craft policies that are inclusive of different views and beliefs, in particular those of people and communities that might otherwise be overlooked or marginalized."

Well Cannabis Community, here's our chance to stand up to the internet giant and let them know that our community is being silenced, overlooked and as marginalized as it gets. We are not criminals because we choose an alternative medicine, I'm sorry but Purdue Pharma is in the biggest class action lawsuit in this country for the opioid epidemic and millions of lives lost [criminal as it gets], yet have we seen cannabis kill anyone?

With your help we can stand up for our own freedom of speech, and get it back.
