My name is Elysa and I am 10 years old.  My brother and I often shop at Trader Joe's with our parents.  While we are fans of Trader Joe's selection of breads, meats, produce, and dairy, we have found an ongoing problem with most of their cookies: almost all of them contain palm oil!

People are cutting down more and more trees and destroying rainforests all over the world so that they can plant palm trees from which they will make palm oil. This is bad for the environment because by destroying the rainforests, they are taking away the homes of many animals including: orangutans, elephants, and tigers (all of which are already endangered!).  Removing trees further increases the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the air, contributing to air pollution and climate change. This not only harmful to our environment but to our health as well. Air pollution can cause many illnesses including cancer!

We are very disappointed because we love their cookies, but we no longer buy them because of the palm oil content. Please sign this petition to convince Trader Joe's to use different ingredients in the place of palm oil as in: coconut oil, canola oil, or butter.

This change will enable kids around the world to enjoy Trader Joe's cookies without worrying about harming the environment. Many children will thank you, and so will the planet!
