Thailand at the moment cannot be seen as a democracy, for this is not the case as elections have not been held now for 4 years. During these 4 years we have seen an increase in human rights violations in Thailand, that include violations against the freedom of speech and the freedom of assembly. There are many problems within Thailand which are not being focused on, such as the education system and corruption. The people of Thailand deserve their voices to be heard, yet first and foremost there needs to be a democracy and free space in Thailand for these problems to even begin to be addressed. There have been many efforts within Thailand to bring forth elections, all of which have not succeeded in achieving their goals. However, this has not dampened the spirit of the people of Thailand for it is strong, yet further support for this cause is needed. In signing this petition you would be demonstrating support towards the Thai people in their efforts to bring back a democracy. Efforts in Thailand are being censored, which is why this cause also requires an international audience and international support.
