Why this petition matters

Started by P Thomas

Bucks County Council is planning to decide on 1st July to at least DOUBLE waste recycling operations at Marsworth Airfield Industrial Estate

Cheddington Lane, Marsworth Buckinghamshire HP23 4QR (“Airfield”).

Planning applications CM/0018/19 and CM/0017/19 cover waste recycling (waste transfer, processing and storage).

WHAT WAS PROMISED - 12 years ago, Bucks County Council and the Independent Planning Inspector agreed with local villagers – no increase in waste recycling nor any additional HGV traffic at the Airfield because

  • The local rural roads were not built for substantial volumes of HGV traffic.
  • Waste recycling should be carried out with easy access to major roads and the Airfield was too far away.
  • Nearby houses were badly affected by vibration and noise.
  • HGV traffic generated by the Airfield affected the health of those living alongside the route.
  • Road safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians was of great concern.

BROKEN PROMISE

  • Bucks CC broke its promise in 2017, and despite objections from all the surrounding villages, they approved an increase in HGV traffic and waste operations.
  • Local access roads are now in worse condition than ever; requiring frequent closure for repairs and with weight restrictions imposed on some bridges.
  • Heightened concerns about road safety throughout surrounding villages especially with increase in residential housing along the route.
  • Houses along the route shake as lorries go past.
  • It is not safe to walk or cycle along these routes which include a well-used Scout hut.
  • Even local hauliers themselves complain about the cramped and narrow roads being unsuitable for HGV traffic.

THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET MUCH WORSE

Bucks CC has failed to carry out all the necessary assessments of these two applications.

We don’t believe that these applications will have no impact on road traffic, state of local roads, noise, dust, vibration, road safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians and the health of people in the surrounding villages.

We actively support local businesses at the Airfield BUT it should be the right type of business for this light industrial site.

WASTE RECYCLING IS NOT THE RIGHT TYPE OF BUSINESS.

In fact, a purpose-built heavy industrial site has been developed 6 miles from the Airfield with direct access to main roads and away from residential housing. So why is this not being considered instead?

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO
