新型コロナウイルスの感染流行が拡大している中、世界中の人の健康と幸せを最優先に考え、世界でワクチン摂取が完了し安心して参加ができる2022年に延期することをご提案いたします。

理由は以下の通りです。

1.日本に暮らす人々の健康を第一に考え、アスリートを含め国民全員の健康を守ることが今最優先事項です。

2.世界中から選手、サポーター、メディアが押し寄せることが想定され、現実的に万全の感染対策などは不可能である。

3. 国民の税金を使ってやる事業において、国民にとってリスクがある開催、望まない開催は許されない。

4.またそのような可能性がある以上、対外的にもコロナ禍での開催は日本のイメージを著しく傷つける恐れがある。

5.大会を支援するスポンサーにとってもこのような事態での開催は損益となる。

 

以上、リスクしかない今季のオリンピック・パラリンピック開催について国益を優先するのか、国民の命を優先するのか再度ご検討いただき、日本国民及び世界の人が望む大会の開催にむけて、日本のリーダーとして勇気ある決断してくれることを信じています。

It is time to make a momentous decision based on common sense and in the interest of public health and the true Olympic spirit.

Less then 3 months before the scheduled opening of the games the unfortunate reality is that infection rates globally are still rising, new mutations are increasing and vaccines cannot be administered as fast as hoped for.

Global spectators and most of the international volunteers to the games have already been disinvited and tens of thousands athletes, media & journalists, officials and sponsor guests will attend at the increasingly likely risk of a super spreader event taking place in Tokyo.

Pure common sense and the massive investments by the Japanese public and sponsors alike suggest that the games should only be held in a safe and joyous environment that can be celebrated by all,with openness and inclusion that highlights the wonders and beauty of Japan without fear and discomfort.

A once in a century global pandemic of epic proportions should be reason enough to make the right decision, no mater how difficult, to keep mankind safe and enable the whole world to enjoy and participate in safe and joyful Olympics, true to the founding spirit of the Olympic games…
