We, the undersigned, call on The University of Nottingham to protect the jobs of hourly paid teaching workers. We stand together with casualised staff across the university and ask that permanently employed staff do the same by not accepting any additional work as a result of potential job losses. We demand that:

1.     the University acknowledges the contribution to the delivery of education made by hourly paid teaching staff, many of whom are current PhD students, and affords them the respect and dignity they deserve

2.     the University immediately reverses the cuts to Teaching Affiliate budgets which will result in job losses for hourly paid and casually employed staff

3.     the University engages in full and transparent consultation with its workforce and trade union representatives as a matter of urgency

4.     the University makes it a priority to safeguard the jobs of all staff in the next academic year; continuing to post job advertisements for recurring, hourly paid roles and cancelling any planned contract terminations or fixed-term redundancies
