Why this petition matters

Started by D Lee

At the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, Whole Foods employees were given an extra $2 an hour hazard pay and a revised attendance policy in which call-outs would not be held against them. Here in Texas, that was enacted when we were looking at about ~200 cases per day. Fast forward a few months to where we are today: THOUSANDS of cases per day in some areas, more employees being diagnosed, NO HAZARD PAY, and should you call out if you are feeling ill, or just absolutely terrified & anxiety ridden to work during these times, it is held against you and goes on your record.

I am starting this petition to ask Whole Foods and Amazon to reconsider their actions and put their people over profit. Start the trend so that other businesses will follow suit. After all, these businesses wouldn't be running if it weren't for the hard-working employees putting their lives (and their loved ones at home) at risk every single day.

Let it be known that, HEB, also a Texas based company, recently chose to raise employee hazard pay and make it permanent.

While it is widely known that Whole Foods takes pride in how their employees are treated, their taking a step back to remove hazard pay was the wrong direction to take. Help support Whole Foods employees move in the right direction by granting their hazard pay during these trying times.
