Adam Giaquinto, a recent graduate from the Morristown-Beard School, recently recorded and posted a video on social media (see link below) in which he and friends used the N-word and made disparaging remarks about George Floyd, the Black man recently murdered by Minneapolis Police. Giaquinto is also currently a member of the University of Richmond’s incoming class of 2024. If the University of Richmond truly values and stands for “Inclusive Excellence” as the administration advertises and pledges to its students, such blatant, hateful, anti-black sentiment and language must NOT be tolerated. If there is truly “No Room for Hate” on UR’s campus, we must not welcome people who propagate racist sentiment and openly disrespect Black lives into our community. Adam Giaquinto’s admission to the University of Richmond MUST be revoked IMMEDIATELY. This is the ONLY response that will evidence that Richmond truly cares about its Black students and has zero tolerance for hate. We are TIRED of hateful incidents occurring with no consequences. We DO NOT want an email from administration expressing its concerns and invoking its work on the TIDE initiative. We want Giaquinto’s admission REVOKED, the only action that will demonstrate that anti-Blackness and hatred  are UNACCEPTABLE at Richmond.
