Abolish Police Unions
Abolish Police Unions
Why this petition matters
Police unions are known to protect their own, leading to an increase in crimes among police officers and corruption within the system. This allows white supremacists, domestic abusers, and murders to not only keep their jobs, but also protects them against criminal charges. Police unions are treated like fraternities, as they call each other “brother” and not “coworker.” This is the reason why so many cops are not tried for their crimes. They often cover for each other in the name of “brotherhood.” Police unions also fight to restrict the use of police body cameras, which would be evidence if they committed a crime on the job and other measures to prevent accountability of police officers. I am calling on the House of Representatives and the Senate to abolish police unions in America.
