AirBnB has put in place an emergency cancellation policy in response to the current public health crisis.  

However, that policy does not apply to long-term reservations or reservations that had already begun.  Therefore, travelers who have had to terminate long-term reservations or move out of rentals early have been charged cancellation fees equalling a month’s rent for time that was not used due to no fault of the tenant.  

This is unfair to customers, and has the effect of trapping people in dangerous pandemic epicenters during a global emergency.  

This policy is therefore bad for public health and should be:

(1) outlawed and

(2) addressed through class action lawsuits.
