Stop the Kinlochleven Zip Wires
Stop the Kinlochleven Zip Wires
Why this petition matters
Kinlochleven is famous for its beautiful setting in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. The village sits at the head of Loch Leven, surrounded by mountains and is well loved by its residents and visitors alike who come to enjoy the amazing views and the network of trails. From all-ability paths on the loch side to internationally famous skyrunning routes and the iconic West Highland Way this area of natural beauty offers both physical and mental wellbeing to all who come and spend time here. This in turn provides valuable revenue for local businesses.
Please support opposition to a plan to put in two immense zip wires from the top of the West Highland Way across the loch. This will be visually intrusive, a danger to passing traffic on the road below and will create noise and disturbance to wildlife, locals and visitors. Kinlochleven is not an amusement park but is part of Scotland's wild land heritage. Time spent in nature is free for all to enjoy and should not be ruined by a permanent, ugly, expensive structure that will only benefit a small minority.
Kinlochleven is on the edge of Wild Land Area 14 (John Muir Trust) and is simply the wrong place for a theme park style development. Please support us to help preserve Scotland's world class landscape for future generations. Thank you.
