Tony La Russa to resign as White Sox manager
Tony La Russa to resign as White Sox manager
Why this petition matters
After a disastrous hiring process by the owner Jerry Reinsdorf, of the Chicago White Sox to fill the vacant managerial position resulted in the hiring of an unfit and unwanted Tony La Russa, White Sox fans want to see a change. I, along with many other fans believe Tony is unfit to properly perform at his position with this team due to the following factors:
-2 DUI charges in Florida and Arizona, with the latest coming the day before the hire.
-Former player testimonials of racist judgement.
-10 years inbetween managing teams
-Moral questions about prior encouragement to cheating methods in the game.
The White Sox for so long have been an afterthought, a joke, or just flat out a low-tier organization when it comes to production in Major League Baseball. White Sox fans have had enough of the embarrassment and the Tony La Russa hire continues a narrative that Jerry Reinsdorf is uncapable of owning and operating a major-league baseball team. The White Sox team has a roster flooding with talent and just broke a 12 year playoff drought. With only 3 championships and just 10 playoff appearances in 116 seasons, we deserve to capitalize on a roster like this. This petition is to give a real voice to the fans, one of evidence and unity against an owner that has continually given us reasons and examples of how much he does not care about this fanbase. After the purchase of the New York Mets by Steve Cohen and his genuine fan-like press conference, I believe it is now time that this fanbase stands up for what we believe in and definitively show that this disaster of a hire will not be tolerated or forgotten.
