Myalgic Enchepalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) is a highly debilitating disease  inflicting approx 2.5 mil Americans and an addtl est +15mil more worldwide. Many of these victims arent able to get out of bed or conduct basic daily selfcare activities. The most common thread amongst these patients is a prior viral infection. There are currently 0 approved drugs and only 1 drug in clinical development, Ampligen. The drug filed for FDA approval years ago and the FDA has failed to take action despite human clinical data demonstrating Ampligen can safely help as many as 40% of these patients return to varrying degrees of a "normal" life. Now between 20-50% of Covid 19 virus survivors are being diagnosed with ME/CFS disease or similar symptoms. With over 6mil in the US and more globally recovering from Covid19, the ME/CFS population could grow by more than 1mil. The long term health impact on these patients and the financial impact on the economy is significant and there is No reason for the FDA to not at a minimum grant Emergency Use Authorization for Ampligen as it has w other drugs in Covid despite unlike Ampligen, those drugs lacking real or positive clinical data.
