After we were told by our government to buy diesel vehicles we are now being penalised. They have in no way tried to make any form of recompense for this. The congestion charge was allegedly implemented to fight pollution. The money that has been generated from that charge and it’s extortionate fines, have not in any way gone towards resourceful ways to deal with our pollution issues. Likewise the new ULEZ charge has no real protocols in place to counteract pollution. It just another stealth tax to embezzle yet more money from the working class and make the divide between the have and have nots even greater. If Sadiq Kahn really cared and was doing everything within his power to decrease air pollution, he’d find better ways. Simply charging people to pollute the air isn’t a sustainble or viable way of counteracting the issue. London transport is expensive and people that work 9-5’s  get charged more for travelling in peak hours. There has even been talk of finding ways to penalise bike riders.  When does it stop? The government is supposed to be for the people, and when that government voted in by us, is consistently  failing us we need to take matters into our own hands and declare enough is enough.
