The Little Clowns of Happytown was a cartoon that premiered on the ABC Network September 26, 1987 to sometime in 1988. It was a short-lived show consisting of 13 episodes plus bonus segments which where called Joking Around with The Little Clowns, that also aired on ABC between Saturday morning cartoon programming.

The show reran on The Family Channel (now Freeform) on Sunday mornings in September 1989 to sometime in 1990 part of their Fun Town block.

In 2014,in the United States, three episodes of the series have made it on to a compilation DVD called TV Guide Spotlight: Totally '80s Toons. They were:

"BeBad's Pet Peeve"

"Carnival Crashers/Clowny Exchange"

"Won't You Please Come Home, Blooper...Geek?" 

 

The same episodes were also released on DVD in the UK along with another episode:

"Baby Blues/Too Scared To Laugh".

 

Three episodes (six eleven minute episodes) have been found with a Korean dub:

"Only When I Laugh/Lost and Not Found"

"To Be Or Not To Be... Me/Nobody's Useless" 

"Big Heart, Sweetheart/To Mr. Pickleherring With Love"

However, on May 14, 2022, "To Be Or Not To Be... Me/Nobody's Useless" was released in English on YouTube.

 

Three episodes have been found with a Russian overdub:

"Don't Tell Mom"

"Goodbye Grandma"

"I'm Just Like You"

 

Three episodes are lost, but were released on VHS in the UK in 1988, but were then found and uploaded on YouTube:

"City Clowns, Country Clowns"

"New Dad, No Dad"

"The Chosen Clown"

To get you all familiar with the Little Clowns of Happytown, here's what the show was about and what each character was like:

Little Clowns of Happytown  was about six little clowns living in Happytown spreading happiness to everything and everyone and saving the day from their enemy, Awful Bebad, who is all about gloom, and always wanted to make everything that way, but thanks to the Little Clowns it never happened.

Here is a description of who each character was/is:
Big Top: The leader of the Little Clowns who loves to tell jokes and always knows when to look on the bright side of any situation.

Hiccup: A Little Clown who loves to sing and dance and hiccups everytime she talks. She is Blooper's little sister.

Tickles: The brains of the Little Clowns who always invents and fixes things, and is very giggly.

Pranky: A Little Clown who loves to make mischief by throwing cream pies.

Blooper: A Little Clown who is insecure and doesn't believe he's very clowny, but always has everybody smiling by doing an unexpected routine. He is Hiccup's big brother.

Badum-Bump: Big Top's baby brother who communicates by making sounds.

Rover: Big Top and Badum-Bump's pet elephant and Badum-Bump's partner.

Clownimals: The colorful clown-like animals that accompanies the little clowns. Badum-Bump is the only one who understands them. There is 9 of them. Lion, Tiger, Bear, Seal, Penguin, Giraffe, Rhino, Zebra and a Kangaroo.

Mr. Pickleherring: The Little Clowns' teacher at Clown School, which the Little Clowns attend, who always makes learning fun, and gives the Little Clowns advice to make everything happy.

Awful Bebad- He's the main antagonist who wants the world to be gloomy just like him.

Geek- Bebad's redheaded assistant, who is a dimwit, but a loveable guy. He believes he is no good at being bad as he makes people happy much to Bebad's annoyance. He is good friends with Blooper.

Whiner- Bebad's other assistant. A teenager who whines and often informs Bebad on what's going on.
