Why this petition matters

The Inner Loop Working Group's mission is to ensure integrity and safety in community development impacting the 17 mile loop connecting Alico, Corkscrew & Ben Hill Griffin. Overcapacity roads in the Corkscrew Corridor are DEADLY! The Corkscrew Grove Settlement would add 10,000+ homes, 700,000 sqf commercial, 240 hotels rooms in an area of the county designated to protect our water resources, the DRGR. Lee County and Cameratta Company COLLUDED to dictate the choice they are trying to FORCE you to accept.

County Commissioners FAILED to alert the public and prepare.  Cameratta Co. has been working in collusion with County Staff and others to push THEIR agenda and seize the opportunity to DENY meaningful public input.   Lee County's backroom deals and "over-accommodation" of developers VIOLATES the rights of citizens and does not protect our nominated Conservation Lands, water resources or our families.  Levels of service on Corkscrew Corridor roads, includinng I-75 over spill are are a clear and present danger. 10 years is too long to wait for road improvements to begin on East Corkscrew.  A "capped " proportional-share (Prop-share) of $2,000 for each new house in the Kingston proposed development is not enough money to get the job done and not worth increasing the danger to the lives of residents currently living and traveling these roads.

Further, the 2019 public outcry regarding placement of public facilities resulting from an interdepartmental swap under the influence of Joseph Cameratta for Conservation 20/20  land was justified.  Proposing putting trash and wastewater on a nominated Conservation 20/20 parcel well known as a panther crossing with vital hydrological importance to wash into the Wild Blue Flow-Way, Devore-Mallard-Green Meadow Flow-Way and Estero River watershed is obscene. Ask commissioners to take action  and return that parcel to Conservation 20/20 through a Comprehensive Plan Amendment.

Respectfully,

the INNERLOOP WORKING GROUP
