I am a former public defender and a current legal innovator, justice advocate, and criminal justice reform warrior.  I am not starting this petition lightly, as it will likely result in serious consequences for those who participate.  Are you willing to risk your life for what you believe in?  If so, keep reading...

We need to stop the cop sport of hunting black people.  It’s time we did more than tweet our outrage or record police murders as bystanders.  It’s time we actually stood up for freedom and put ourselves in the path of injustice.

Please sign this petition if you’re white and willing to put yourself between police and unarmed POC with guns drawn on them.  I won’t be asking black people to do this (because they already do in a lot of cases and their risk level is much higher.)

Please be prepared to be assaulted, arrested, and possibly shot/injured/beat-up.

Please don’t resist police, threaten them, or make fast movements while intervening in criminal police activity.  Keep your hands in view and empty.  Do not participate if your are armed.

If you’ve never had cops point guns at you, well, it’s scary.  If you’ve never been to jail, well, it’s not prison and conditions vary widely based on location.

Please don’t rely on anything I have said as legal or safety advice.  I’m not asking you to put your life on the line.  Instead I’m asking if you are unwilling to stand by and watch any longer.

How to make serious improvements and save thousands of lives (each year):

- switch from militarized policing to de-escalation policing

- body cam that cannot be turned off and is live-streamed, publicly

- end “mandatory minimum sentences”

- muzzle police union power

- retire older cops, all of them (ESPECIALLY training officers)

- hire the best training officers from the UK (they almost never kill ppl)

- institute a public arm of internal affairs (work with public to root out criminal cops)

- end the war on drugs

- make victimless crimes civil offenses

- remove the illegal standard cops have to shoot. “In fear of my life” is BS. Cops have training and need to be held to a higher standard to shoot, not a lower one.

- let drug offenders out of prison (yes all of them) and expunge record

- end cash bail. It’s mostly unconstitutional pretrial detention.

- institute a national expungement program old charges can be removed from record which would serve as a corrective tool for rampant institutional racism.

- end for-profit prisons

- copy Norway’s “Bastoy Prison”
