Why this petition matters

Started by Sam Shelton

We need a shelter-in-place (stay-at-home) order. People are still going to lakes, parks, having parties, shopping at Lowe's and Home Depot, etc. People just aren't taking this serious. Laws are made for the arrogant and stupid and the rest of us suffer.

Meaning, we are asking that there be a complete shut down. No gatherings, at all. Other than grocery store, essential caretaker, no public parks open, doctor visits with appointment, emergency vet visits, and essential jobs, etc. Common sense collapsed when selfishness took over.

Pro-activity can and does often look extreme. We need that now because if we don't take extreme measures the fallout will be what is extreme.

Alabama is not testing for SARS-CoV2 (Covid-19) fast enough to know actual case counts. Until that happens isolation of the state will assure that what is here stays here and that further spread isn't permitted from outside the state. We need to assure that it doesn't continue to spread throughout neighboring states as well. We will encourage leaders to speed the process of testing those that reside here.

Gov. Ivey issued a statement on March 26 ending the school year for the state's children and closure of some non-essential businesses on the 28th. As it currently stands testing is far too low for the populace to take this virus as serious as it is. There will continue to be a false sense of security until there is accuracy in numbers of cases.
