Former Salisbury police officer James Hampton, resigns after video surfaced of the abuse he subjected his K-9 partner to. Resignation for abuse is not nearly enough, he needs to be charged to the fullest extent of the law and sentenced accordingly. Abuse of an animal is just, if not more damaging to an animal that puts his complete trust and loyalty into human beings. 

The police chief asks us not to make any assumptions or to take what is clearly shown on the video out of context. Please! First of all dealing with a noncompliant animal should not include stringing the animal up by its neck, hitting or forcefully shoving them into a vehicle! And second, if he believed his actions were appropriate, then why was there such back and forth between two officers, questioning whether their cameras were on or off, and making the comment "no witnesses!"? He damn well knew it wasn't appropriate and his actions were abusive!

Animal abuse and/or neglect is unacceptable and intolerable in any form. It has now become a criminal offence and the former officer should not be any exception.
