Publish critical data on PPP loan recipients NOW
Why this petition matters
The Small Business Administration (SBA) created the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) as a loan to support small businesses struggling to keep their workers on payroll during COVID-19. However, large corporations have taken advantage of this loan, boxing out the companies that needed it most. Small business funding is in jeopardy. And with it, their future viability.
As the CEO of a startup that supports customers by providing access to company information, I deeply understand the power that data can have. Access to data means democratizing access to opportunities. That’s what small businesses need more than ever: opportunity.
I’m calling for the SBA to provide real-time reporting of the names of each loan recipient along with their PPP qualifications:
- Revenue
- March operating expenses
- Amount of available cash in the business
- Total loan amount
With this information, we can extrapolate a company’s runway and understand its urgency--or lack thereof--for the PPP loan.
There’s still time to get this right and reserve funds for the vulnerable companies that need them. Join me in demanding real-time transparency from the SBA by signing the petition to make the PPP Loan recipient list and critical data public.
