End fees for family violence orders
End fees for family violence orders
Why this petition matters
An interim family violence order in Tasmania comes at cost. Not just the bravery for a person, usually a woman and children, to seek help, but an unnecessary financial burden.
In Tasmania, an interim family violence order from the courts costs $32.40 plus $15 for printing.
In some other states there is no cost involved when seeking an interim family violence order.
The Examiner has launched the Fighting Back campaign in an effort to not only raise awareness on issues associated with reducing family violence, but also to help remove barriers.
The first barrier is this unnecessary fee.
The Examiner invites you to have your voice heard and sign the petition to send a message to the Tasmanian Government that the fee must reduced in order to help some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
