Why this petition matters

Started by Dr. David Buchin

Mariah Carey was born and raised in Huntington, Long Island. She is a 1987 graduate of Harborfields High School. In 1993, she released the smash hit "Hero," which eight years later, became an anthem for the police, fire, and emergency workers who answered the call on September 11, 2001. Now, as the nation faces the crisis of shortages of personal protective equipment and the rapid spread of COVID-19, it is another group of heroes emerging: doctors, nurses, hospital, and medical staff.

A doctor from Huntington Hospital, the only hospital in Mariah Carey's hometown and one of the hardest hit areas in the country, is asking Mariah Carey to dedicate this song to the tens-of-thousands of healthcare heroes working around-the-clock to flatten the curve and save lives from the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Allow our hospital heroes' stories to be told! Join Dr. David Buchin from Huntington Hospital, sign the petition, and tell Mariah Carey to perform "Hero" for the heroes all around us in Huntington and throughout Long Island!
