On September 30, 2020 Wattpad plans to remove the news feed feature off all platforms. This is a big issue for both dedicated readers and inspired writers. The news feed was our way of accumulating new stories that were directed for us, the diamond in the rough that are poorly promoted through Wattpad. It was also a beacon of hope for small writers, as our stories were discovered by authors and readers with like minded interest.

The removal of the news feed will really screw over new and current writers as it has always been integral for their exposure. Though it may be the least used feature, it has helped us greatly by discovering new books to read and authors to support. With it gone, I fear for the new writers who won’t have a platform and their writings and stories lost.
