This petition once the goal is reached will be sent to the United States Senate in the hopes of having a law passed stopping the ability of police departments to self investigate their crimes. This in no way should be legal that when involved in any sort of crime especially officer-involved killings of civilians that they should be able to investigate and subsequently clear themselves of any wrongdoing. Civilians cannot investigate themselves when they have committed a crime so why is it okay for police department's to do this.
