PETITION FOR PLAYSTATION TO KEEP COMMUNITIES FOR PS4

Sony Playstation have announced that they will do a great disservice to gamers by discontinuing the PS Communities feature on the PS4.

From the official Sony Playstation website:

“Thank you for using the PS Communities feature on your PS4 console. As of April 2021, this feature will no longer be supported or available on your PS4 console.

"However, you'll still be able to stay connected and enjoy messaging features and more on your PS4 console and the PlayStation App.”

The website gives no other reason for this, and there doesn’t seem to be a fair or reasonable cause for Playstation to take this measure.

That is why with the backing of many gamers across the globe this petition has been started.

We petition Sony Playstation to act in good faith and to keep the PS Communities feature on the PS4. We ask that they reverse their decision and do not remove the feature in April 2021. Guarantee us at least another year, if not two, of keeping the PS Communities feature on PS4.

With a global pandemic, and many people and their families being hit by COVID-19, many people live in countries under lockdown, or have had to spend more time indoors. Being able to connect to other people online during these hard times has helped people get through isolation and personal difficulty. The causes of the pandemic started in 2019, and the world has gone through a lot, it would be a good gesture on behalf of Sony Playstation to do this small thing for them, and to keep the communities going on PS4.

We know that Sony Playstation has already taken measures during COVID-19 to help with online play and communities, and so on. We ask that they also reverse a bad decision and keep the PS4 Communities going.

So whoever you are please sign this petition, and spread it as far as you can on social media, in the communities. Use the hashtag #KeepPS4Communities and @Sony and @PlayStation. Send messages to games reviewers and companies urging them to do the same. With just a few clicks this simple change can be made. After all we’re not asking for something new, we’re asking for something that already exists to be kept going. After all it is us in the communities who provide the content.
