Why this petition matters
Please ban the Communist owned Huawei from participating in the new 5G network in UK. This company is causing a rift with our greatest ally. The Chinese state is not our friend. Huawei network equipment has a proven history of "beaconing". Don't let a country that lies about a potential deadly bio-weapon on the loose have access to our critical infrastructure and data. They have already threatened to withhold vital medicinal chemicals from us, why let them have the potential to cripple our telecomms infrastructure. The guy who heads up Huawei is an (ex?) general in Chinese Intelligence. As an ex network and cryptographic engineer myself who has seen the way Huawei phones send data to Beijing I implore you not to let them in.
The new Sino-Soviet alliance will give the Russians a new way to cause us problems too.
It may be slightly more costly to choose different vendors for 5G in the short term, but look what the CCP has just cost us through deception about Covid-19 ! The cost to us of having a cuckoo in the 5G nest will be immeasurably higher if we were to enter conflict in the future. Don't hand over our core infrastructure to a potential non-democratic hostile adversary. We didn't let Nazi Germany or Siemens build our telephone network before WWII, why let a Communist dictatorship in our core backbone now? Madness !
