Massachusetts seasonal for-hire (charter) fishing industry is in trouble and needs your help! This collection of many family-owned small businesses was shutdown by Governor Baker on 4/27/20.
We only have a short window of time over the next few months to make almost all of our revenue to carry us through the entire year. Every day not on the water in our season is a day we will not be able to add on to the end of the season - we will not be able to recoup these days in 2020.
The Massachusetts charter captains are an intelligent and dynamic group of individuals with whom people trust their lives to be out on the open ocean. These individuals know how to keep people safe. Allow us to re-open with common sense guidelines of social distancing, face masks or coverings, health screenings and enhanced cleaning protocols of which several businesses already have implemented. Fishing in the open air with your private group on a vessel with adequate distancing should be allowed! Let the citizens of this country be responsible and make their own decisions about going fishing. Don't continue with a mandate that will crush several amazing small businesses whose owners have spent their whole life building!
