The George Floyd Police Reformation Act
The George Floyd Police Reformation Act
Why this petition matters
It’s time to stand up.
We, the people, hereby petition the U.S. Congress to introduce a bill titled “The George Floyd Police Reformation Act”. Reformation should include, addressing of racial bias, an impartial federal trial for criminal acts completed by officers in uniform against all civilians which they are sworn to protect. An increase in Human Resources available to them and a longer period of Police Academy which includes extensive training for not only racial bias. Instilling calm reactions to extreme resistance by possible arrestees, so “he was resisting arrest” can no longer be used as an adequate excuse, increase in deescalation tactics. Demilitarization of police, and returning them the the protectors of the public they are supposed to be.
This is more than simply getting justice for George Floyd, this is about getting justice for every person who’s been subject to police bias and brutality.
It is the right guaranteed by the First Amendment that we may petition congress to address an issue, a right we wish to exercise now. George Floyd is more than a statistic, he is the lightning rod we will build our platform on.
Sincerely,
We, the People.
