Why this petition matters

Started by Rochelle Greayer

On Earth Day - Monday April 22nd, 2019 - the Harvard Planning Board will meet to review an application to remove five trees at the east end of Littleton County Road near Whitney Lane Farms.

The Harvard DPW has requested them to be removed.

These five historic trees, which include oaks and maples that are each at least 50+ years old, are integral to the beauty of the road.

The trees provide a canopy over the road and create a natural entrance to the historic and cherished agricultural area that lies beyond.  This road is a favorite of local residents for its year-round beauty and charm. Cutting down these trees would devastate the dramatic gateway that they currently create.

It is our hope that overwhelming support for this petition will encourage the Harvard Planning Board to NOT approve the removal request.

If you would like to speak for yourself about why you feel these trees should be saved and protected, please plan to make remarks during the meeting on April 22nd at 7:30 in Harvard’s Town Hall or submit remarks (all of which will be read into the official record) to Liz Allard through the Harvard Planning Board website.
