Why this petition matters

Started by Gerard Zagorski

As a result of the Covid 19 107 rules put in place in NJ on 3/21/2020, Recreational For Hire Fishing businesses have been shut down. These small business owners pay tax on their profits, a 15.3% self employment tax and many pay 1/2 their employees employment taxes and or themselves on W2 and are contributing to Unemployment. In spite of this, they are being denied Unemployment since they own more than 5% of their businesses and are being told they might qualify for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) sometime in May. Many have filed for PPP and Economic Injury Disaster Loan and most have been told the funds have ran out...

These small business owners take all the risks, create jobs for others, contribute to the local economy and pay taxes but are being left out in the cold. We need to give them and other Small Business owners a clear concise path to Unemployment or PUA, get additional funding for PPP and Economic Injury Disaster Loans and most importantly, find a way to allow these proud people to get back to work with the proper and reasonable social distancing precautions.
