Intro

• Currently, Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario, is trying to open up the
  Greenbelt in Ontario for construction for businesses and housing areas.
• The Greenbelt area has been protected and it wasn't permitted to build in that area.
• It has provided Ontario with Fresh air, clean water, locally grown food and a thriving economy
• Takes up over 2 million acres of land
• 721,000 acres of natural land such as valleys, rivers marshes, etc.
• Has 4,732 farms

Animals

• Several hundred species call the greenbelt a home
• Home to 78 species at risk
• Would ruin the biodiversity of the forests

Forests

• The trees offset 56.5 million cars emissions driven in over a year
• These trees being cut would release a cosmic amount of carbon

Farmland

• Contains 4,732 farms
• Most productive agricultural farmland in Canada
  provide us with fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, beef, pork, and poultry products for prize-winning wines.
• Specialty farms in the greenbelt produce everything from sheep's and lambs, mushrooms, maple syrup, and horticultural goods which are flowers and plants.
• Farms are 33% smaller but have 12% more gross income
• A lot of items come from the greenbelt which removed the reason to
• import provincially and internationally
• Less Importing reduces carbon emissions from transporting vehicle

The Canadian Economy

• Provides potentially valuable items to trade provincially or internationally
• Provides 161,000 jobs
• Provides the Canadian government with 9.1 billion dollars in economic profits

Walking Trails

• Has a vast network of 10,000 kilometers of trails
• Encourages people to go on walks
• Walking is healthy for the human body

The Problem

• The Greenbelt is the one thing Ontario is doing right
• Cutting the Greenbelt down would increase the amount of carbon goes into the atmosphere
• Opening the Greenbelt for construction would have an overwhelming amount of negative impacts compared to the good

The Solution

This is a serious cause and our voices need to be heard. To help prevent the forests and farms being clear cut and destroyed for the reason of urbanization. All the natural place is the one thing we are doing right and we cannot lose it. Sign this petition to at least raise our voices, they need to be heard and we need to prevent the greenbelt from being built on for urbanization.
