Why this petition matters

Started by Holly Newton

Currently in the City of Charlotte there is zero anti-tethering ordinance & the minimum requirements are horrific to say the least. Currently as laws states it is legal to have a dog tethered to an object 24/7 & 365 days a year.

The practice of tethering a dog 24/7 is horrific & inhumane. The dog lives it’s life outside tethered in all of the elements and is at risk of getting tangled and even dying due to the tether. Studies show that a dog that that lives it’s life tethered is prone to being more aggressive as well due to the psychological damage the practice of tethering causes.

Our surrounding cities such as Asheville & Raleigh have banned unattended tethering & have much more sound requirements. It is baffling that a PowerHub such as Charlotte has fallen behind in such a way.

Please sign this petition if you are in support of  banning the practice of unattended tethering of dogs in the city of Charlotte.
